The Question of the Problem
Are you really looking at the problem?
I love the movie Moneyball. I particularly love this scene and what it means for change and really understanding the question of the problem.
We often think we know what the problem is, but we generally don’t know what we don’t know and never look further than our own experience.
Have you ever been in a meeting like this?
Lastly, when approaching the idea of understanding and defining change, many balk at talking about problems, as if the idea of surfacing and acknowledging the fact problems exist is a negative. You can label them as “opportunities” or “challenges” but that’s only an exercise in semantics.
If your organisation has a problem acknowledging problems, there are bigger problems afoot.
